Whether it be work, paying bills, cleaning, driving, math homework - we all do things everyday we wish we didn't have to do.  I mean, come on, studying "indefeasibly vested remainders" and "the parole evidence rule" is like being back in elementary school and looking at my math homework and thinking, "am I really ever going to use this?"  (side note - I ACTUALLY had a use for the math formula the other day where the train is going a certain speed, covering so many miles and you had to figure out what time it arrived.)  Nonetheless, in the meantime it is no fun to study.

I am a firm believer in the "work hard, play hard" philosophy and while I don't necessarily have the time to "play hard" - I am finding little ways to break up the monotony of my every day schedule and it really makes a difference.  Knowing there is something fun to look forward to makes the boring bearable. :)

Here are my top 5 rewards for this week:

1. Moving my "office" to Starbucks and for a little pick me ups.

2. A daily run.  I am starting my official training plan next weekend for the Oakland 1/2 Marathon and Big Sur International Marathon but it has been fun just going out and getting miles in for fun.

3. Delicious Cookies

4. The Bachelor.  OMG, where has this show been my whole life?!  It is fabulously bad in so many ways.  I look forward to the two hours to just zone out and not think.  (P.S. If anyone else is watching I want Emily to win!)

5. Registering for races!  I LOVE having something fun to look forward to - it is that light at the end of the tunnel!  Monday, registration for Levi's Gran Fondo opened and I am now officially registered for the 100 miler with 8000 feet of climbing!  I can't say enough good things about this ride and I am beyond excited to participate again this year and take on the 100 mile challenge.

What little rewards do you give yourself to keep you motivated?

  1. Ahhh...I do love a good reward too! :) My favorite reward for myself is coffee!! DD is my favorite when I just want coffee but sometimes I splurge for a latte at Sbucks! Yummm!

Thursday nights is another reward - our favorite night of television (The Office, Parks and Rec., etc.) so we look forward to rewarding ourselves w/ the couch and t.v. on Thursday nights! :)

I love the Bachelor too but it is one show my husband truly despises, so I only get to watch it when he's not home. I did read up on what I missed this week, sounds like it's a good season!!

  2. I love giving myself rewards! I feel like as kids we get rewarded and as adults we rarely do, so it's only fair :)

Lately it's been coffee or getting to purchase something I've been wanting :)

I appreciate your comments. Thanks for taking the time to leave one!
