Coming Up for a Breather/Mid Year Goal Review

Yes, I am still alive . . . barely.  I have been really wanting to post, however, I didn't have much to say in terms of working out/training.  My summer so far has pretty much been spent looking at this:

and memorizing these:

while drinking way to much of this:

Yes, I am OBSESSED with the Starbucks Via Iced!!  When I was working the one indulgence I gave myself was Starbucks every morning on the way to work.  Now that I have to watch the budget a little more these are 5 for $6 and they taste just like the Starbucks iced coffee you get in the store which is what I was usually getting every morning anyway for almost $3!  I don't even have to leave the house.

Of course, I had to take a break for this:

I saw the best shirt - "I am team Edward until Jacob takes his shirt off! "

In terms of training, I mentioned that while I was studying my plan was to back off a bit and just try and keep a good base in swimming, biking and running which I have been doing.  I have been hitting the gym for about an hour a day - 5 days a week - either swimming, spinning or running and feel like I haven't lost too much of what I was starting to built training for Barb's.  Hopefully, it won't be to hard to pick up where I left off since once I am done with my test I will have 6 weeks to the Big Kahuna!  I actually have so many fun races to look forward to from September thru December - it is what is keeping me going because there are definitely days I don't think I am going to make it until July 29th.

In terms of the goals I set for myself back in January, now that we are halfway through the year I thought I would sit down and assess where I was.  I decided that given the circumstances that have come up this year, I probably will not meet my mileage goals for the year which, is disappointing, however, despite the time I have had to take off from training I am happy with the mileage that I have done.  Now that we are halfway through the year, I am really more focused on meeting my race goals than my mileage goals because I feel if I meet my race goals that will be a trust testament to the amount of work I have put in and for now, given everything, I will be happy with that.  Thus, I am scratching the mileage goals all together and I am going to focus on completing my race goals instead.  Next year, I will bring the mileage goals back.

Original January 2010 Goals

1. Pass the CA Bar Exam
2. Break 28:00 for a 5k
3. Set a new 10K record
4. Break 2:00 on my half marathon
5: Break 4:30 on my marathon
6. Run 1000 miles for the year (I was about 100 short this year)
7. Bike 2000 miles for the year
8. Swim 250 miles for the year
9. Eat completely vegan 12 days of the year
10. Set up a monthly donation to a charity.

Revised July 2010 Goals

1. Pass the CA Bar Exam
2. Break 28:00 for a 5k
3. Set a new 10K record
4. Break 2:00 on my half marathon
5: Break 4:30 on my marathon
6. Complete a Half IronMan (Big Kahuna)
7. Ride a full Century Ride (Foxy's Fall Century)
8. Redeem myself in the Metric Century Ride (Levi's Ride)
9. Eat completely vegan 12 days of the year
10. Set up a monthly donation to a charity.

I still have only completed number 10, however, I have no doubt that I will accomplish all of them in the next six months.  I will also discuss my reason for number nine and what I actually ate that day.

Sorry I don't have much more exciting news to report.  I am slowly starting to see the light at the end of the tunnel and things will be back to normal in 3 weeks.  As much as I want it to be over with I always still feel like I need more time!

I did the vegan challenge for a week and I really liked it minus not being able to eat cheese. I missed CHEESE!!!!!!!!!

I think Justin and I want to do a century next year. I figure after the ride I did with Jen I can handle it =).

  3. Great job with your studying! The end of the tunnel is almost here! The year is still young and you'll have plenty of time to kick those other goals around.

I'm with Alisa. I could probably be vegan except for the cheese factor.
