Taper Time . . . CA Bar Style

IT IS OFFICIAL . . .

Now, all I have to do is pass this damn test!

I have to admit, I was getting a little nervous because we hadn't been told we "officially" graduated yet. All I could do was think the worst, like I didn't pass a class or something and I wouldn't be able to sit for the bar. However, as soon as I got this piece of paper in my hand I could let out a huge sigh of relief.

Law school was hard for me - mentally, physically and emotionally. I feel lucky I was able to find running in law school and honestly I feel like I survived because of it. Between balancing school and work I didn't always as much time as I wanted to devote to it but every run was instrumental in helping me keep my sanity. I can't wait to be done with the bar and devote much more time to this sport that has become such an integral part of my life.

I have been a horrible blogger lately and I am sorry. Unlike marathon taper where the miles decrease, bar studying taper means the study hours increase. I have exactly 2 weeks until the test starts and I need every waking hour of these next two weeks to study. Sadly, this means no workouts, minus maybe a little walk here, a little weights there.

Despite my best efforts to remain positive I do have to face the fact that I might not pass and as horrible as that would be to have to commit to studying like this again I have to tell myself it won't be the end of the world. However, in the meantime all I can do is give it my all to look back and have no regrets.

I am looking forward to not living in my sweats anymore (yes, initially it sounded great but I would love to have places to dress up for again) and starting to train again. Once the test is over I still have two weeks off from work and I have HUGE plans for working out. I have so many races coming up - one 7 weeks right after the bar - I need to get moving. I also get to start my half iron man training which I am so excited for!

This will probably be the last time you hear from me until after February 25th. I am pretty much turning off technology until then. Think good thoughts for me February 23 - 25th! I will be back soon!

  1. Yeahhhh!! Congrats!! Hang in there, you are so close to being done! Make sure to take care of yourself, too....I saw a lot of haggard stressed out people at our bar exam, and it doesn't seem like many of them passed. Be confident and get some sleep!! :)

  7. I feel for you, I only have one class this semester and between work, kids, homework, etc. sometimes running becomes the casualty or simply loses out in the shuffle.
There's just not enough time ! Look on the bright side - when you return you will appreciate it SO much!
    Good luck!
